About Game Central

Game Central is a collection of ten multiplayer games you play together with people you already know. You pick a game and create a session, and Game Central gives you a short share code. You send that code to whoever you're playing with, and they enter it to join.

Sessions support 1 to 8 players and clean themselves up automatically a while after the game ends or goes idle. Live voice chat is available to participants during an active game.

The games

  • Chain Reaction, The Orchestra — sound-based games you play by clapping and blowing into the microphone.
  • Lidar Tag, Warmer / Colder — augmented-reality games that use the camera to map the space you're playing in.
  • Farkle, Liar's Dice, Yahtzee, Shut the Box — classic dice games.
  • Column Clash, Lockout — head-to-head strategy games.

Getting Started

  • Create a game to generate a short share code.
  • Send the code to the people you want to play with.
  • They enter the code in Game Central to join your session.
  • Play together — up to 8 players in a single session.
  • Use live voice chat during the game if you want to talk while you play.

Frequently Asked Questions

I can't join a game with my code

Share codes are case-insensitive, but they must match exactly — check for extra spaces or a mistyped character. Codes also expire once the session ends, so if the game is already over you'll need a new code from the host.

Voice chat isn't working

Voice chat needs two things. First, make sure Game Central has microphone access: open the iOS Settings app, then go to Privacy & Security → Microphone and confirm Game Central is enabled. Second, check that you have a stable internet connection — voice chat is live and needs a working network.

How many people can play at once?

A session supports 1 to 8 players.

What happens to my session when we're done?

Sessions disappear on their own a while after the game ends or goes idle. You don't need to delete anything.

Why does Game Central ask for the camera?

The augmented-reality games, Lidar Tag and Warmer / Colder, use the camera to understand the space you're playing in. The camera feed is processed live on your device — it is never uploaded, recorded, or stored. If you decline camera access, those two games are unavailable and everything else works normally.

Why does it ask for Bluetooth and local network access?

Some games connect directly to other players' devices in the same room, over the local network or Bluetooth. These are used only to find and connect to the people you're playing with during a game.

It asked to save a photo — what is that?

Lidar Tag can save a hit-cam photo to your photo library, but only at the moment you tap to save it. Game Central has add-only access: it can save a picture you asked it to save, and it cannot read, browse, or upload anything already in your library.

Is my voice chat recorded?

No. Voice chat connects players device-to-device, and the audio is not recorded or stored. Only the information needed to set up the connection passes through our server.
