About Simple Breath
Simple Breath is a guided breathing app. You pick a breathing technique and the app paces you through it — inhale, hold, exhale, hold — with a visual guide and a running count of the breaths you've taken.
It ships with twelve techniques, including Box Breathing, 4-7-8, Diaphragmatic Breathing, Alternate Nostril Breathing, Coherent Breathing, and Fibonacci Breathing. Every technique can be customized, and you can build your own from scratch.
Getting Started
- Choose a technique — each one includes a short description of what it's for.
- Follow the on-screen pacing through each inhale, hold, and exhale phase.
- Long press a technique's title or description to customize its timings.
- Use "Create Your Own" to define a technique with your own inhale, hold, and exhale durations.
- Track your total breaths taken over time.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I change a technique's timing?
Long press on the technique's title or description. That opens the timings for editing, and it works on any of the built-in techniques as well as on "Create Your Own." Your changes are saved on your device.
Why does the background shift color as I move my device?
Simple Breath uses your device's motion sensors purely as a visual effect — the background colors shift subtly as you move. Nothing about your motion is recorded, stored, or sent anywhere. You can find this permission in the iOS Settings app under Privacy & Security → Motion & Fitness.
Is my data stored anywhere?
No. Simple Breath keeps everything — your customized techniques and your breath count — on your device only. There is no account, no sign-in, and the app does not send your information anywhere.
What happened to my saved techniques?
Your customizations are stored on your device, so deleting and reinstalling the app clears them. There's no cloud backup to restore from.
What is Fibonacci Breathing?
It's a progressive sequence based on Fibonacci numbers — 13, 8, 5, 3, 2 seconds — that gets gradually faster as you go, which is intended to settle you down.
